Recently we have had a band of merry men and women who have taken on the pacing world and helped “strangers” to achieve their goals in running at events such as Doomben Half (aka Sandgate), Jetty to Jetty and Brisbane Marathon Festival. This band of merry men and women, who have included the likes of Tony Banfield, Paul Dack, Mary Jackson, Karen Reardon, Peter Lewis and Chris Edwards have all done great things in their own running worlds but have also taken it upon themselves to share their experience and enthusiasm with others. Last weekend we had Striders racing at Brisbane Marathon Festival but we also had pacers. We have recently received a little bit of feedback from this event and I thought it was something that should be shared. This is a good opportunity to thank all of our club coaches for the time and knowledge they share with us and now to also thank those members who are sharing in other ways as pacers at events. Congratulations to you all and thank you.
This came from Intraining who hosted the event:
Steve and Margot, Congratulations on a great day yesterday. I wanted to write and give a huge rap to your Half Marathon 1:30 Pace Runner. I don’t know his name, but he did a fantastic job and was, in my view, the model pace runner. Perfect pace, great courtesy and direction – an absolute credit to himself and you guys. Please pass on my appreciation to him. I ran my first ever sub-90 minute Half with his help.
Thanks Chris 🙂
