New Thursday Night Session
As of last week Striders is now offering a Thursday night session. Starting at the usual time (7:30pm) at the usual place (SPCC) it will feature a range of different sessions and guest coaches. Last week the guest coach was Stan and he conducted a running clinic breaking down the running action and looking at key issues such as cadence, body angle, footfall and core stability. Core and Stretching Master Class
We have a unique opportunity to host some core & stretching master classes starting soon with physiotherapist Deane Sullivan. Dean has experience with elite Triathlon, Swimming and AFL and is a registered therapist with the Queensland Academy of Sport. We would like to gauge interest and also timings. Our options are Wednesdays at 5:30pm or 6:00pm. Entry will be $10 per head, total bargain! Please use the poll to indicate your interest and your preferred start time.
Striders Club Championship Points
To make it easier to keep an up to date Club Championship Leaderboard we are putting the onus back on runners to let us know when & what they have run so that we can accurately compile and allocate championship points for our Annual Club Champion Award. Striders Club Championship Races for 2012
Each year we have a Cub Championship competition based on points accumulated in our 8 listed club runs. These 8 runs have been chosen across a number of distances and race types. First place in a distance category gets the winner 10 points, second place 8, and so forth. Last year’s inaugural winner was Stan Fetting and in 2012 the challenge is out to topple Stan from the championship. Striders Annual Awards Report
A record 86 people joined our annual night of nights held for the first time on Saturday November 5, 2011. Proceedings started with finger foods and live musician Simon Kennedy who proved to be a big hit all night with the punters. After main course our awards were announced. Gabriel Petrie’s contribution as a founding member was recognised with a presentation. He was given ‘Zinn & the art of bycycle maintenance’ to mark his transition from running to bike riding which he now excels at. Continue reading “Striders Annual Awards Report”
Inaugural Annual Awards Dinner – 5 November
You are warmly invited to the Inaugural Striders Annual Awards presentation night and dinner on Saturday night November 5. It has been a historic year for Striders as we grew up and became an adult, gaining incorporated status in May. It’s been another year of effort for all our walkers, runners and riders and we are looking to celebrate in style with a big feed, live music and lots of fun. Striders partnership with Redcliffe Tri club
Striders has been privileged to enter into a Reciprocal Membership Agreement with Redcliffe Tri Club. RTC is the premier triathlon club of Brisbane and one of the longest running. Quite a few Striders are part of RTC and vic versa. Most belong to both clubs but for some people connecting with the other club is infrequent.
