2015 Striders Awards Presentation Afternoon

The 2015 Striders Awards presentation was a little different to previous years with the event being held at the Ferny Grove Bowls club.  The afternoon was a more family friendly event with games of bare foot bowls and soggy beach volleyball.  We had a lucky break in the weather with the sun making a brief appearance and the rain holding off until late in the afternoon at the presentation of the awards.  It was a relaxed and fun afternoon for all.

This year’s award recipients –

Coaches awards for the morning group: Phillip O’Loughlin and Alanah Kilpatrick

Coaches awards for the night group: Clodagh Kusemamuriwo and Kelly Bowden

Junior coaches award: Cooper Carswell

Junior award: Matthew Stark

Mens fastest 10k: Chris Edwards

Womens fastest 10K: Keryn Pauley

Mens fastest half marathon: Anthony Fuster

Womens fastest half marathon: Keryn Pauley

Mens fastest marathon: Chris Edwards

Womens fastest marathon: Yvonne Baylis

Overall Club Champion: Tied between Chris Edwards and Keryn Pauley

Runners choice award: Yvonne Baylis (may have been rigged by a certain daughter who may have voted more than once).

A special presentation was made to Stan Fetting who held the position of club president for 10 years to thank him for his years of dedication to the club.  Stan has been a driving force behind the club who has been influential in shaping the club culture of welcoming one and all no matter what your running goals or abilities are.  From all of us at Striders thank you Stan.

Thanks to everyone who came along even though the weather wasn’t ideal.  Special thanks to Clodagh Kusemamuriwo and Louise Dunn for organising the event and catering and Mark Bertwistle for doing a great job manning the BBQ for most of the afternoon.
