Twilight Half Marathon Training Plan

Your club coaches for morning and evening have a full plan including intervals & hills worked out for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners leading up to the Twilight Half Marathon on Sunday night March 18.  The plan includes a 5km and 10km time trial which is ESSENTIAL so that we can work out your pacing for the Half. The 10km time trial will be run by Striders out at Sandgate on a Saturday night to help acclimatise you to night running (which is VERY different). Striders Club Championship Races for 2012

Each year we have a Cub Championship competition based on points accumulated in our 8 listed club runs.  These 8 runs have been chosen across a number of distances and race types. First place in a distance category gets the winner 10 points, second place 8, and so forth. Last year’s inaugural winner was Stan Fetting and in 2012 the challenge is out to topple Stan from the championship.  Women dominated the leaderboard last year: Continue reading “Striders Club Championship Races for 2012”

Gabriel Petrie’s contribution as a founding member was recognised with a presentation. He was given ‘Zinn & the art of bycycle maintenance’ to mark his transition from running to bike riding which he now excels at. Continue reading “Striders Annual Awards Report”

Striders Simmer in Toowoomba

A good number of Striders gathered at the Toowoomba Golf Club on Saturday night for a big carbo loading session followed by some late evening ice cream runs and more than a few packets of chocolate and snakes. It was great to have Dino along with his beautiful family. Paul Dack and Jerrod failed to give Stan proper navigational support and they all ended up at the Walloon Saloon where there was one particular bearded lady who made us get out of town quick smart. Striders partnership with Redcliffe Tri club

Striders has been privileged to enter into a Reciprocal Membership Agreement  with Redcliffe Tri Club. RTC is the premier triathlon club of Brisbane and one of the longest running. Quite a few Striders are part of RTC and vic versa.  Most belong to both clubs but for some people connecting with the other club is infrequent.  This agreement allows for a crossover of membership benefits and will hopefully mutually promote both clubs. Introducing South Pine Riders

When Striders first began many moons ago in 2006, cycling was one of the activities on offer. That fell off a revised schedule of activities but since then a regular group of riders have left 5 mornings a week from the car park of SPCC, including quite a few Striders. Over time we have encouraged the cyclists to become a bit more organised and now that is upon us. Continue reading “Introducing South Pine Riders”
